Pilates for the Rider Nikki is a true believer that riders should be balanced and strong, not just for themselves, but for their horses too. Being a rider herself and having experienced muscular-skeletal pain and physical injury, Nikki understands first hand the real benefits of massage and Pilates for both horse and rider in the long term. Remember, we are two bodies coming together as one when we ride!
More often and not, as a rider our own imbalances in the saddle can result in the horse not responding to or misinterpreting our given aids. As a result we can weaken and create asymmetry within the horses' key postural and superficial muscles groups, and break down a horse's natural movement pattern.
Nikki specialises in equestrian Pilates, which includes an established Pilates class for riders. This class is held in the London Borough of Bromley but is also available through Zoom. A free online assessment is essential prior to joining by Zoom.
In addition, Nikki offers personal and tailored Pilates one-to-one sessions for riders. This is also available as part of the Horse & Rider biomechanics package.
Each Pilates session is different, and focuses on how to correct body issues relating to riding, including understanding how to strengthen the spine and core muscles whilst maintaining shoulder stability - all key elements to the rider.
